Case Study: Shakehouse

Having first opened its doors in Birmingham in 2016, just eight years later milkshake and dessert cafe Shakehouse now operates 21 branches across the globe, including destinations as far-flung as Pakistan and Dubai – with even more in the pipeline across Europe.

“There was never any plan for a franchise, but the business just grew and grew,” explains co-founder Rehan.

Shakehouse signed up to Just Eat within weeks of opening and the platform has been a partner to the business every step of its journey since. Rehan says: “We work with Just Eat in all of our UK locations and the relationship is just great. They’re always offering promotional offers which help us to give discounts to reach more people and get repeat customers – we couldn’t reach them without Just Eat’s support.

“I would rate our experience with Just Eat ten out of ten. Our relationship with our account manager has been the best from day one – we have confidence knowing that the platform cares about our business.”

Though the business is mostly known for its milkshakes, its offering is vast; waffles, cookie dough, donuts, cheesecake and smoothies are among the treats on the menu for Just Eat customers.

More than 160 people now work across Shakehouse’s various branches, many of whom are young students aged between 17 and 22, and the business is committed to investing in its talent and local communities.

Rehan explains: “Many of our employees have been with us for several years now, and we’ve even had a few students stay with the business after graduating and go on to open their own branches. We work hard to invest in their futures – one chap even owns three branches now

“We’re proud of how far the business has come, so it’s also really important for us to give back to the communities who support us – that’s why we’re working with local football academies and sponsoring local grassroots clubs, and we’re looking to do more in this area in future.”
